How much would a 1933 NIP pack of 10 rookie cards be worth including Babe Ruth?
I have a pack of rookie cards that I believe are Cookies and they are dated 1933. Black and white/creamish in color. There are 10 cards in the pack and you can see Babe Ruth from the outside. They are in the original baggy. Never opened.
So could this be a pack from 1913? I dont have them in front of me.
I'm not aware of any Babe Ruth card that came in a pack of cookies. Babe Ruth did appear in the 1933 Goudey Set which came with a piece of gum, not a cookie.
The only cards I know of that came with a cookie were the 1963 Fleer set and that set did not include any Ruth cards.
And I doubt a 72 year old cookie would still be black and white/creamish in color.
Where did you get this pack? That would probably help in determining it's validity and value.
edit: Trapazoid, I think you might be correct that they are Conlons. I interpreted the question as being the cards came with a cookie and the cookie was black and white/cream but those colors do describe the cards.
In 1983, to mark the 50th anniversary of the all star game, Conlon issued a set of 60 cards. The set was oversized (4-1/2" x 6-1/8") and only sold as complete sets so I'm not sure how you got a pack of 10. In addition to the AL and NL all stars, it also contained a group of Ne-gro League All Stars. Charles Conlon was a photographer for the Sporting News for a number of years and took thousands of photos of major league players. The Ne-gro League photos came from a variety of sources.
The keys to the set are Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, and Satchel Paige. Commons go for about 25 cents and the Ruth is worth about $5. The bottom of the fronts say "Commemorating 50th Anniversary Season, 1933-1983, Year of First Major League All Star Game"
The Conlon cards the Trapazoid mentioned came out in different series from 1991 to 1995. They are standard size and have a black border which lists the players name and team at the bottom left with the year the photo was taken on the bottom right. These Conlons are worth considerably less than the 1983 All Star Conlons.
